Not Good News

I don't know where they heard it from, but according to what I was told ....

I've stayed in the Pator Tech corp since I graduated -- they're good people, they have clean stations, and they do what they can for their graduates. Now, apparently, CONCORD have decided that they have to start charging us (or taxing us) to stay members. They want us to join the commercial corps (which tax anyway), because they say that they protect us by blocking pirates and null-sec gankers, and we ought to pay for it.

So I lose all my friends, and then I lose this protection because the null-sec people simply war-dec hi-sec corps, which means they can kill you as they like and you get no rights against them. My poniez are scared stiff.

And if I'm going to save up for my Orca, I really can't afford the taxes.

On the other hand, had excellent day yesterday with the AKFT, mining and chatting -- mostly mining. Ursus was there, too, which kept my spirits up.

And tomorrow I'm planning on ... well, never mind: don't want the gankers to hear me ....

Um, actually no. null-sec people rarely war dec, waste of ISK. Empire pvp corps war dec opponents they think are worth it for a fight or ransom. But they look for large fat industrial player corps to war dec, not small one-man-or-woman operations. Take a few mil, start your own corp, live happily in safety for years. I have with my industrial alts.

  2. Precisely what Kirith said. I've got a couple of small corps and both are far below the target set of any Empre-wardec corp. It took almost no time to skill for it and a small amount of ISK to set up. No worries and set up a chat room for your old mates in Pator to keep you company.

  3. The griefers are looking for large corps with tons of new players. Just avoid any of those spam recruiting corps and you should be ok. You can always drop corp if they get war decced and you don't want to play.

  4. And, if you are working to an Orca, I don't think that the Corp hangers are available if you are not in a player corp.

  5. Sorry to join the bandwagon...but keep in mind that perhaps you wont need to join any alliance but rather a good corp to get out to some nice 0.0 space. I am exceedingly happy that NPC corps will finally tax their residents...quite a good move IMO..maybe give new folks a 3 month reprieve or something like that?

  6. Orca's hangers are always accessible to the pilot, even in NPC corps. :)

  7. I'll have to agree with most everyone else in saying I think it's good that they did this. It seems logical to me for NPC corps to Tax members for the services they provide. I'd say 11% of mission earnings is a small price to pay for the complete safety you have from wardecs.

  8. And remember that taxes aren’t on all earnings, just bounties and mission rewards I believe.
