  1. Thanks. Good linkage. FWIW, I rather like the way CCP has balanced its appeal to all the various player-types. It is a very smart business decision, but one that, as the author notes, requires constant attention to balance. Personally, I'd like a good reason to enter low-sec space other than griefing. That incentive is missing and even the griefers are seemingly getting bored griefing each other and random newbs. Stay tuned as the saga continues.

  2. I find it hilarious that you are linking to a post from 2007 that itself is talking about a post from 2004.

A good idea never dies, eh? :)

  3. Not only does it not die, it needs to be revisited from time to time, as the game and culture change.

Hardcore gamers are just not a profitable genre - game after game has proven this. This is due, in large part, to normal humans being unable to be hardcore consistently and perpetually. Maintaining a busy raiding schedule for five years is something that few, if any, people can do. Games without a casaul element are doomed to fail because no one can keep up with that sort of grind forever.

It's taken a while, and the industry has capitulated about it alot, but I think the jury has finally decided...casaul is more protiable than hardcore.

  4. Kirith: In fact, one of my personal creebs is people who recycle old arguments. Which was why the link, because I thought it was a *good* argument that deserved not to be recycled.
Anyway, YMMV is a good rubric
